V-Day: Until the Violence Stops, film screening

This documentary film from 2003 features five of 800 cities around the world that participated in V-Day, a movement to end violence against women and girls. The film project grew out of the global success of Eve Ensler's play, The Vagina Monologues. The film follows the grassroots activities and impact of V-Day in our very own Ukiah, the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, and cities in Kenya, Croatia, and the Philippines. Along the way it explores pervasive and cultural forms of violence that women experience all over the world. Directed by Abby Epstein with a screenplay by Eve Ensler, V-Day: Until the Violence Stops features appearances by Ensler, as well as actors Tantoo Cardinal, Rosario Dawson, Jane Fonda, LisaGay Hamilton, Salma Hayek, Amy Hill, Rosie Perez, and Isabella Rossellini.

The film runs approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. A casual community conversation will follow.
