This two-week popup show in our public room revisits the Vagina Quilt Project from 2002. That year, in support of V-Day 2002, the Mendocino Quilt Artist Guild created original art quilts reflecting themes of femininity, sensuality, birth, mothering, and womanhood. The quilts and the efforts of these Ukiah quilters were featured in the 2003 documentary film, V-Day: Until the Violence Stops, written by Eve Ensler, the author of the 1996 play, The Vagina Monologues, which became a global phenomenon. (The film will be screened at the Museum on January 12 at 2:00 PM.)
Please Note: A few of the artworks in the show are anatomically explicit — viewer discretion is advised.
