Ranger Ben and the Bears of Yosemite

  • Grace Hudson Museum & Sun House 431 South Main Street Ukiah, CA 95482 USA (map)

Ben Cunningham-Summerfield, an Interpretive Ranger at Yosemite National Park, joins us to talk about bears, their habitat, behavior, life cycle, myths, spiritual attributes, and what happens when humans insert themselves by the thousands into their world. Ranger Ben, as he is known to Park visitors, is Mountain Maidu and also serves as an Indian Cultural Demonstrator at Yosemite. This special weekday virtual program is ideal for all ages. In fact, think about preparing a picnic basket and have lunch while you watch. Get a little taste of what Ranger Ben will discuss by checking out our current online exhibition, Yosemite People, where he is a featured Yosemite person.
