Peppernut Ball Making Workshop

  • Grace Hudson Museum & Sun House 431 South Main Street Ukiah, CA 95482 USA (map)

Make peppernut balls, a traditional Pomo food that tastes and functions like coffee and chocolate once prepared properly. Sherrie Smith-Ferri (Dry Creek Pomo) will lead this workshop where you will learn about the Pepperwood Tree — also known as California Bay Laurel — and how it was and is used by Pomo peoples. Participants will leave the workshop with both old-style and gourmet varieties of this traditional treat that they will make during this program.

Reservation list is currently at capacity but we do have a waiting list. Please call (707) 467-2836 to check on program status. Participants must be 12 or older. There is no charge for this program, but a $15 donation is suggested if you are able.
