The May version of Writers Read will feature poet Michael Riedell, one of Writers Read’s long-time organizers. He has served as a Ukiah Poet Laureate and been a popular reader featured throughout the county and frequently on KZYX&Z’s Rhythm Running River. Michael is the author of two previous books of poetry and editor of Deep Valley: Poets Laureate of Ukiah 2001-2018. His latest book of poems is What We Have Left. Michael will step to the podium at 7:00 PM, followed by an Open Mic at 8:00. To ensure the protection of all attendees, Writers Reads asks that people do not attend if you have not been fully vaccinated or if you feel in any way ill.

Writers Read has been happening in Ukiah since 1999, and occurs on the last Thursday of almost every month. The program focuses on poetry, spoken word, short stories, song, and expository prose.
