Printed & Stitched

This exhibition, organized and traveled by Exhibit Envoy, features dozens of original artworks — all by members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates (California/Nevada Regions) and the California Society of Printmakers — that explore the connection between printmaking and art quilts. Printed imagery and sewn fibers are a seemingly ancient combination. Printmakers often reference fiber and stitching, while textile artists/art quilters incorporate printed elements into their work. At their confluence there is pigment and pressure, woven layers, and borders sewn with fiber. There is color and also texture, form, intention, ingenuity, and many stories. Textile and print go hand in hand, and the combinations are constantly being reinvented.

Printed & Stitched is made possible by the support of the Sun House Guild and Museum Members.
